Red Bull: Bryce Menzies New Frontier
New Frontier documents Bryce Menzies’ successful attempt to break the world record for the longest jump by a four wheel vehicle. Truck modifications, practice jumps, ramp rebuilds, loads of science and even more determination, all put together in an effort to make a truck fly up and over an old west town in New Mexico.

The original plan with this production was to have the documentary crew, which had been filming and editing for 10 months prior to the official jump, produce the first five segments of the film, and then a live TV crew would cover the final two segments. But just as the camera cables had finished being run through the dirt and the helicopter started to lift off, Bryce crashed his truck on a final practice jump and injured himself to the point that prohibited him from continuing. This resulted in the documentary crew having to finish out the film. In other words, I had to edit the final 12 minutes or so from footage not intended to be the final 12 minutes, and do so in under 24 hours. And after a meeting with the Austrian bosses who had flown in for the jump and the nervous sponsor reps, the director informed me that “if the edit’s not perfect, they’re going to scrap the whole thing”…. so you know, just a little pressure.
